The Weather Diaries is the name of an intriguing and breath-takingly beautiful photo series from the artist duo Cooper & Gorger. Sarah Cooper and Nina Gorfer worked for two and a half years on The Weather Diaries for the Nordic Fashion Biennale, where the assignment object was to map the roots of fashion design and artisanal traditions of the West Nordic Islands – Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The photos have now been collected in a book, a photographic essay that shows the identity and culture of the three islands, but also what they have in common. For example, the rugged climate, unspoiled nature, isolation and a history of applied arts closely connected with myths, sagas and legends (think about the Normans, Vikings and Inuit) underlie the basis of an entirely unique, raw creativity. The photos – made on the three islands – show local fashion that’s placed in an overwhelming, natural setting and resonate a dark, poetic romance in which shape, beautiful materials, crafts, photography and painting come together.he Weather Diaries show the work of both young and well-known designers like Mundi, Shoplifter, Jör By Guðmundur Jörundsson, Steinnun, Barbara í Gongini,
